ABOUT THE ROLE 

 
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Care the Behavioural Support Lead PSW will work in collaboration with the Behavioural Support Lead Facilitator to build knowledgeable care teams and the implementation of evidence-based practices research knowledge and expertise related to Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) into clinical practice within all care floors of Bethammi Nursing Home.

WHAT YOU BRING 

 

Education/Experience: 

  • Valid Personal Support Worker certificate and registration or the ability to become registered with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia delirium and mental health issues  

 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice 
  • Demonstrated commitment to people centered care 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently with minimal supervision 
  • Computer proficiency including Word and Windows email communication and electronic documentation 
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work  

 

Asset: 

  • Certification relevant to practice setting (ie Gerontology Dementia) including training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) and U-First is an asset 
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is an asset 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations is an asset  

 

Conditions of Employment: 

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
